GRAMMAR: Verb to be

The verb to be means “ser” or “estar” in Spanish.

We use it to talk about who we are, where we are from, and how we feel.

Introductions

  • What’s your name? — ¿Cómo te llamas?
  • My name is Cecilia. — Me llamo Cecilia.
  • Nice to meet you. — Mucho gusto.
  • Nice to meet you, too. — Mucho gusto también.

Example:

Tom: Hi! What’s your name?
